Scientists have discovered a new color called 'Olo'. They said that this color has never been seen before. According to scientists, this color is not normally seen. To see this color, you have to shine laser light on the retina of the eye. Information about this new color has been published in the journal Science Advances. Regarding the discovery of the new color, Ren Ng, an electrical engineer at the University of California, Berkeley, USA, said, 'We thought from the beginning that we would see some unprecedented color. The color is very dark.' Sharing a picture of a square of turquoise to give an idea about the new color, the scientists said that the color that was seen cannot be explained in general. In this regard, scientist Austin Roorda said, 'It is not possible to explain the new color in any text or on a monitor. The fact is, this is not the color that we see. The color that we see is a form of it. All real colors are very pale compared to this color called olo.’ Normally, when light falls on the color-sensitive cells called cones of the retina, the human eye can distinguish millions of shades or variations of colors. There are three types of cone cells, which are sensitive to long, medium and short wavelengths of light. Red light stimulates the long cone and blue light activates the short cone. However, no natural light can stimulate the medium cone located in the middle of the retina. Scientists identified the medium cone by scanning the retinas of volunteers participating in the study. Then, a laser was used to scan the retina and shine a flash of light in the medium cone. That is when this color appears.
